Terms

Jango terms of service

The agreement between you and the team that runs Hey Jango. How your data is used is in the Privacy Centre.

These terms are the agreement between you and us, the team that runs Hey Jango, for using the Jango iPhone app, its widgets and Messages app, and the web app at heyjango.com/app. The legal details of who we are are in the Privacy Centre. How your data is used is in the privacy policy (Privacy Centre), which is part of these terms.

Who can use Jango

Jango can be used at any age. Under 16, it needs a parent's or guardian's consent: the first screen asks your age, and if you are under 16 a parent or guardian confirms on the phone. How that works, and what happens under 13, is at heyjango.com/parents. The parent or guardian is responsible for the child's use. On an account for someone under 16, Jango never takes part in romantic or sexual talk, does not make or share photos, videos or a copy of their voice, and keeps the account private. Jango also talks with a child on an adult's phone only when that adult confirms it on the phone.

Jango is an AI

Jango is an AI, not a person. Its replies are written by an AI model and can be wrong, out of date or incomplete, including times, prices, flight and parcel updates, directions, translations and what it reads from your email or the camera. Check anything important. Jango does not give medical, legal, financial or other professional advice and is not a substitute for it.

Visa photos. The photo-for-a-visa feature shows the rule it found on an official site, with the site's name and link, and crops and colours the picture to it. The visa authority, not Jango, decides whether a photo is accepted: check the rule on the official site before you apply, and Jango cannot promise acceptance.

Emergencies. Jango is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Emergency mode and emergency contacts help where they can, but they depend on your phone, its connection and its permissions, and are not guaranteed to reach anyone.

What you approve is yours

Jango prepares things for you: emails, messages, calendar events, reminders, bookings, payment reminders, documents to sign. Anything that sends, buys, books or changes something in your name waits for your yes (a tap, or saying so). You are responsible for what you approve, so read it first. A document you sign in Jango is signed on your phone; whether a signature is accepted is for the people you send it to.

A booking link you make is a public address that shows your free times to anyone who has it. The person who books through it is not a Hey Jango user and has not agreed to these terms: they are shown who sees their name and email and a link to the Privacy Centre. A booking you accept, or that a link of yours confirms by itself, is a commitment you made in your name: stop a link in the app when you no longer want it.

Your account and your phone

You can use Jango without signing in. If you sign in (with Apple, Google, Microsoft, email or your mobile number) you can open the same Jango on a new phone or a linked web browser. Keep your phone and its passcode safe: anyone who can unlock your phone may be able to use your Jango. You can see and sign out phones and browsers in the app under Sign in and devices.

Your content

What you say, type, record, upload or ask Jango to keep stays yours. You let us store and process it only to run Jango for you, as the privacy policy describes, including sending it to the services that power the features you use. We do not sell your data or use it for ad revenue. You can export it or delete it at any time in the app under Privacy and data.

When you share something that holds other people's words or details (an exported chat, an email, a contact, a photo, a recording), make sure you are allowed to. A call is recorded only when everyone in it agrees; do not try to get around that. If you add your phone number to your profile and switch on “Share with my connections”, people you have connected with can see it; only add a number you are entitled to share, and switch it off or remove it at any time.

Using Jango fairly

Do not use Jango to break the law, to harass, threaten, deceive or spam anyone, to impersonate someone, to track or watch a person without their agreement, to make content that sexualises minors, or to try to get around its safety rules, limits or other people's privacy. Do not attack, overload or copy the service, or use it to make accounts in bulk.

Things you publish. Pages you publish on heyjango.app, channels, status updates and share links are seen by the people you share them with or, for a page or a channel, by anyone with its link. You are responsible for them and must have the right to publish what is in them. Anyone can report a page, and we may take down anything that breaks these terms.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. There is no tolerance for objectionable content (hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, violent or illegal material) or for people who abuse others. In the app you can block anyone, and report any chat, message, post, channel, status or page, and any reply from the assistant (Report this reply, under the reply). We review reports promptly, remove content that breaks these terms and bar the account that posted it.

Who powers Jango

To answer you, what you say and share is processed by our third-party AI and cloud service providers: Anthropic (the AI model that writes the replies), Cloudflare (hosting, and a stand-by AI model, Workers AI), Google (the standard voice, try-on previews, phone-number codes and opening hours), ElevenLabs and DeepInfra (other voices and speech in another language), Apple (speech recognition, weather and notifications), Microsoft and Dropbox (only if you use them), and the public weather, map, flight and currency sources listed in the Privacy Centre, which says what each one receives. They process it only to run Jango for you. When you tap Agree and continue on the app's first screen, you agree to this.

Other services

Jango works with services from other companies when you ask: your mail provider, Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook calendar if you connect them, Health and Home, maps, WhatsApp, Amazon, connected services you add and the websites it opens or searches. Their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for what they do or show. Jango's browser is only a way to open those websites: what you sign in to, fill in or send there is between you and the site. Jango asks before it saves a password or an address from a page and fills one only after Face ID; check a filled form before you send it.

Price, limits and changes

Jango is free to use today. If paid features come, their price and terms will be shown before you pay. Some features have fair-use limits per day so the service stays available for everyone. Jango changes often: features may be added, changed or paused. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change applies.

Ending

You can stop at any time; Delete everything in the app under Privacy and data removes your account and data as the privacy policy says. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and will tell you why unless the law or safety stops us.

Profiles

You can make several profiles under one sign-in. You are responsible for every profile made under your sign-in and for who uses your phone to open them. Each profile is kept apart from the others. Deleting a profile deletes what it holds and cannot be undone.

Our responsibility to you

Jango is provided as it is, without a promise that it will always be available or free of mistakes. Its replies are written by AI, can be wrong and are not professional advice (medical, legal, financial or other); check anything important before you rely on it. Anything Jango does in your name waits for your approval, and you are responsible for what you approve.

We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss of business, profit or data you could have backed up, or for what third-party services do. Our total responsibility to you for all claims is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100 if you paid nothing. Your agreement is with the company named under “Who we are” in the Privacy Centre only, and no claim may be brought personally against its directors, officers or staff, except where the law does not allow this to be excluded.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing takes away rights you have by law as a consumer.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales may hear disputes. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you also keep the protection of your local law and may bring a claim in your local courts. Before anything formal, send us a request through the form at heyjango.com/support and we will try to put it right.
